Discovery

Simon opened the heavy wooden door. A strong smell of fish emanated from the dicrepit dockmaster's shack.
"Hello? Anybody home?"
Simon had been travelling through Northern Europe, studying old remains from Viking settlements when he came across this small fishing village. Everyone he met seemed distant and suspicious. It had been with much trouble that he had finally found a place to stay. The food was bland and it was bitterly cold all of the time. He missed his warm bed at home, and his Betty even more so.
Doctor Petrikov had tried to work through some paperwork earlier that day, but he was restless. He had decided to go out for a walk and stretch his legs, even though there was a vicious wind blowing. Something had seemed to draw him towards this apparently abandonned hut, though Simon didn't know what or why. He just knew that he wouldn't have any peace of mind until he investigated it.
As his eyes adjusted to the musty darkness, he noticed something glint at the back of the room. He carefully stepped over the threshold, noticing various fishing eqipment covering the walls. As he entered further, he realized the strange object was in fact a crown.
And what a crown it was! It sat there on a bed of rich red velvet, magnificent and proud with a massive ruby adorning the front. As he reached out to touch it, something - or someone - shifted in the shadows.
"I wouldn't do that, if I were you."

Where the hell did that come from? I don't draw, much less write an accompanying fanfiction
Late last night, after looking at some SimonxBetty art, this image (and story) popping into my mind. I drew up a lineart, passed out for the night, then coloured it in the afternoon. What do you guys think? I'm desperately tryinng to break out of my regular drawing style. make it look more painted, with harsher lines. I tend to blend, a lot. All the linearts I've been colouring recently have given me tons of practice. I try to rely on a different brush for each one. Note me if you have one you want me to colour!
